A (biased) list of local restaurants, all within a 15-minute walk from the math department.

First, Organizers' Favorites

Anyetsang's Little Tibet (Tibetan/Thai/Indian) -- 415 E 4th St
Vegetarian friendly.

The Owlery Restaurant -- 118 W 6th St
Vegetarian comfort food, including vegan poutine. Mostly vegan - they have dairy and non-dairy cheese.

Dagwoods Deli -- 116 S Indiana Ave
Very close to the math department, good for a quick sandwich

Big Woods -- 116 N Grant St
Good for beer and pub food

Taste of India -- 316 E 4th St
Good for large crowds, many veg options, including dosa

Broadly Asian. These places are on 4th Street or nearby, on the West side of campus.

Siam House (Thai) -- 430 E 4th St

Longfei (Chinese) -- 113 S Grant St
A wide variety of authentic dishes.

Samira (Afghan) -- 100 W 6th St
A canonical destination for colloquium dinner.

Turkuaz Cafe (Turkish) -- 301 E 3rd St
Cozy space with some seating on floor cushions.

Yatagarasu (Japanese Ramen) -- 430 E Kirkwood Ave
Izakaya (Japanese pub) vibe with ramen and sake. Has vegetarian friendly ramen.

Korea Restaurant -- 409 E 4th St
Decent Korean food.

Lucky Express (Chinese) -- 307 E 3rd St
Authentic dishes, inexpensive.

Do (Korean/Asian Fusion) -- 404 E 4th St
Offers food as well as a variety of Korean anju (food that accompanies alcohol). Open till late.

Chow Bar (Chinese) -- 216 S Indiana Ave
May be the closest restaurant to the math department. Authentic dishes. At some point, there was a conjecture that at any given time of the day, one could spot at least one member of the math department.

My Thai Downtown -- 402 E 4th St

Cafe Bali (Asian Fusion) -- 210 S Grant St

Kirkwood Avenue (5th Street) has mostly American/Western food options.

Osteria Rago (Italian) -- 419 E Kirkwood Ave
Homemade pasta and good wine list

Uptown Cafe (American) -- 102 E Kirkwood Ave
A parents' weekend kinda place.

FARMbloomington (American) -- 108 E Kirkwood Ave
Another parents' weekend kinda place.

Lennie's (pizza, sandwiches) -- 514 E Kirkwood Ave
Very close to campus, good food and local beer.

Mother Bear's Pizza -- 1428 E 3rd St
The opposite direction of most restaurants listed here, but "the foremost pizza restaurant in Bloomington"

Runcible Spoon -- 412 E 6th St
Good place for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, or afternoon tea

Nick's English Hut (sports bar) -- 423 E Kirkwood Ave
Known for fries and stromboli

Chubbies Burrito -- 118 E Kirkwood Ave

The Tap (pub) -- 101 N College Ave
A little noisy but has a variety of craft and import beers.

The Irish Lion -- 212 W Kirkwood Ave
An Irish-themed pub.

Trojan Horse -- 100 E Kirkwood Ave
A Greek-themed restaurant.

Crazy Horse -- 214 W Kirkwood Ave
Neither Irish nor Greek themed pub. Good for happy hour.

Bub's Burgers and Ice Cream -- 480 N Morton St
A local chain known for Big Ugly Burgers and milkshakes.

Fat Dan's Deli -- 221 E Kirkwood Ave
A local chain known for Chicago style deli.

Goodfellas -- 427 E Kirkwood Ave
A local pizza chain.

Upland Brewing Company -- 350 W 11th St
A 25-minute walk from the department but we thought we should add it. A local brewery with decent food. Vegetarian friendly.

Soma Coffeehouse and Juice Bar -- 322 E Kirkwood Ave
Local vibe, has a great selection of loose-leaf tea. According to an online review, "It's one of the reasons I chose to go to IU over the other schools I was accepted to"

Poindexter Coffee -- 210 E Kirkwood Ave
Located in the Graduate hotel

Cup and Kettle tea -- 208 N Walnut St
Wide variety of tea, serves coffee as well.

Blu Boy Cafe and Cakery -- 112 E Kirkwood Ave
Coffee, chocolate, and cake for those with a sweet tooth. Closed on Sunday.

Bapu Fresh -- 530 E Kirkwood Ave
